"If our first struggle was that of our infancy, this last was that of our youth; and the issue of both, wisely improved, may long postpone if not forever prevent a necessity for exerting the strength of our manhood.".......James Madison

"In 1812: The Navy's War, prizewinning historian George C Daughan tells the thrilling story of how a handful of heroic captains and their stalwart crews overcame spectacular odds to lead the country to victory against the world's greatest imperial power. A stunning contribution to military and national history, "1812: The Navy's War" is the first complete account in more than a century of how the U.S. Navy rescued the fledgling nation and secured America's future. Maine- Portland and Augusta

This is going to be a busy week. Friday, November 25 I will be joining 24 other Maine writers at the Portland Public Library to sign books. We'll be there from 12-3. What a great opportunity to meet all these Maine authors and to "Buy Local." What better holiday gift than an autographed book from a Maine author. This event is a collaboration between Maine Writers and Publishers, Longfellow Books, and the Portland Public Library. Thank you to all for organizing this exciting event.

On Saturday, November 26 I will travel to Augusta to give a short talk and sign books at Barnes and Noble. This event will start at 1 pm. Hope to see a lot of Maine Facebook friends there.

I will also be at the Water Street Bookstore in Exeter, NH tomorrow night at 7pm. C-SPAN will be on hand to film this event. If you're nearby you might find this to be an interesting event. If you're not in the area I'll be posting the air dates once I have them.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
