Virginia, Washington, DC, and Annapolis

This week I will be busy speaking in Virginia, Washington, DC and Annapolis, Md.

Monday, Feb 27 I'll be speaking at the Mariners' Museum at 100 Museum Drive, Newport News, Va at 7PM for their evening lecture series.

Thursday, March 1 I'll be at the United States Navy Memorial at noon for their Authors on Deck Series. This talk is in the Presidents Room at the Naval Heritage Center, 701 Pennsylvania Ave N.W. in Washington, DC.

Thursday March 1, at 7 PM I'll be at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second St, Annapolis, Md. for their Winter Seminar Series.

All of these programs are open to the public.

The Audies

"1812: The Navy's War" has been selected as a finalist by the Audio Publishers Association for their 2012 Audie Awards competition in the history catagory. "This is the only awards program in the United States devoted entirely to honoring spoken word entertainment. Winners will be announced at the Audies Gala on June 5, 2012, at the New-York Historical society in New York". This competition is known as the "Oscars" of Audio Books. I am honored that "1812" has been nominated for this award.

Portland (Maine) Public Library

The Constitution in action
On Wednesday, February 22 at noon I'll be speaking at the Brown Bag Lecture Series at the Portland Public Library in Portland, Maine. I'll be speaking and answering your questions about the War of 1812 at the Congress St Location. Many of you have already read the book so come prepared with your questions and your book if you would like to have it autographed. If you haven't read the book yet Longfellow Books will be there with copies to purchase.

Portsmouth (N.H.) Athenaeum

On Wednesday, February 15 I'll be speaking at the Portsmouth Athenaeum to launch their 2012 program series "Remembering the War of 1812". The event is at 7PM in the Athenaeum Research Library at 9 Market Square in Portsmouth, N.H. This program is open to the public and is $10.00 for non members of the Athenaeum. The Naval War College Museum and Bank Square Books

On Thursday, February 9, I'll be speaking at the Naval War College for their Eight Bells Lecture Series. The event takes place at noon at the museum in Newport, R.I.. All are welcome. Call the museum at 401-841-2101 for reservations.

On Friday, February 10, I'll be speaking at a luncheon event at the Bank Square Bookstore in Mystic, Conn. This event requires a reservation for the lunch. Call the bookstore for more information.

I'll be speaking at the Brown University Fellow's Luncheon on Wednesday January 25. This is the first of my talks about "1812:The Navy's War" for the bicentennial year 2012. "1812: The Navy's War" on CSPAN BookTV- Tonight

For those on the West Coast the time is tonight at 10:30 PM. East Coast you'll have to tape it or stay up really late - 1:30AM. In between it's your choice. This runs 1 hour and 10 minutes.
